Yuck

My oldest daughter is pretty sick and we are going to take her to get tested for Strep Throat. Just what my family wants to hear. I doubt everyone wants us to be around with a sick child.

This weekend has been rough.

Not ready to Run

I took my dog to the park and she wanted to run a little bit so I tried. It didn't work out for me. My knee is pretty tight right now. I walked with her for a while and did some pushups and attempted pullups at the park's workout sections. I remember the days when I could do 20 pullups like it was nothing. Now I could only get 2 good ones and cheated for a third. Getting back to 20 pullups is a new goal of mine. I know if I lose the weight it will happen.

I also did pushups today at home but didn't do the 20 second fitness. I was walking around downtown las vegas playing body guard for my wife for over 2 hours.

Thanks,

Doug

Thursday's Post

I did a lot better eating today. I ate a lot of fruit and veggies. I also didn't have any cupcakes or cookies at the birthday party we went too. But I did have a small strawberry milkshake from Sonic tonight. They have milkshakes buy one get one free so I gave in with that.

I did 20 second fitness again today and it was arms day. The burn on the bi's was great. Then I did my shake weight 6 minute exercise. Doing that right after the 20 second fitness makes me feel like I'm burning a lot more calories than when I try either by themselves.

Thanks,
Doug

Finally Back to 20 Second Fitness

Today our family went for a bike ride / walk to the dog park. The girls rode their bikes while my wife and I walked. By the time we got to the park our dogs were pretty spent and didn't play very much.

The girls had a ton of energy the last couple days. This morning they played at the park for an hour before it got too hot. Then had gymnastics / dance for 45 minutes. Plus the bike ride and they were still wired. Summers are tough on kids here unless you have a pool. Maybe some day we'll get a pool but I would rather have a new house with a pool than put a pool in our backyard now.

I have been slowly working my way back to getting ready for 20 second fitness and tonight I finally did it. I did the Wednesday workout of week two so I can just roll with it again. Unfortunately for me it was one of the hardest workouts and all legs!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love as seen on tv products so today I had to go out and get the shake dumbbell to try it out. It was pretty intense because I did the workout right after my 20 second workout. I also bought the pushup pro to save my wrists and get me doing pushups again with 20 second fitness.

Thanks, Doug

Moving Office Walking the Strip

Yesterday was a busy day, but I was able to squeeze in a nap with my youngest daughter. I helped my wife move her huge desk and office downstairs.

We also went out and walked around the Las Vegas Strip for two hours. I was playing body guard for my wife on a photo shoot. It was just fun to be with her. Plus walking around for 2 hours was a great workout.

Lots of Yard Work

This morning I mowed the lawn, trimmed the bushes and rose bushes in the back yard. All while it was almost 100 degrees. Needless to say I was getting a work out in the sauna of Las Vegas. I also ended up helping a friend for about an hour packing his van because he is moving to Miami.

In the afternoon I took my girls to McDonalds and let them play for three hours. I ate two grilled wraps and an icecream cone. I was doing some website work for my wife while they were playing.

My Knee was starting to bug me a little today so I'm still not ready to start 20 second fitness again yet.

Saturday's Post

Yesterday I went up to girl's camp at Mt. Charleston to help set up. I chopped wood for about an hour which was a great workout.

Then we went to Mindy's brothers house to swim. That was the first time this year we went swimming with the girls. I played some pool basketball with the guys. I almost drowned because I'm a crappy swimmer but I lived. Luckily my lifeguard trained wife was able help our daughter out because I couldn't swim with her in the deepend.

After the party we stopped by lowes and I walked home in the heat to get some more exercise. It's not that far from the house but it was good workout. Because it was almost 110 degrees.

Yep It's Hot

I don't know how hot it is in Vegas right now but it is hot enough to make me sweat all day. Definitely SB Season.

I had a fun lunch with my two girls. We got dressed up nice and went to the cheesecake factory. It was a lot of fun to go on a fancy lunch date. After it was over I asked Georgia if it was fancy enough for her and she said no. The poor boys that girl ends up dating are in trouble.

We went to a birthday party and I did a lot of dancing so that was my workout for the day.

Gettin Out in The Vegas Sun

I worked outside this morning for about an hour in the heat and was sweating like a beast. Then this afternoon I walked while my youngest rode her bike to the store to pick out a movie.

That was quite the workout in the heat just walking there and back.

Food... I tried out a new burrito place called Super Burrito and it was super but probably not to good for me. Mindy's grandma used to always say if it tastes good you need to spit it out. She was tiny her whole life but I love food to much to follow her advice all the way.

I did eat some broccoli and carrots today though! Yea me!

OK I'm Back

Thanks to the one and only family member who has been nagging me for a couple days now.

I haven't been blogging because I hurt my back. I was carrying my wife camera bag and tweeked it in early May. I guess when there is Thousands of dollars worth of equipment in there it can get pretty heavy.

I was taking some time off to try to get my back feeling better. It is still a little sore but I'll live.

Instead of 20 second fitness today I went to my park and to ride my bike. My knee has been bugging me when I tried to ride a couple months ago but it felt pretty good today after it went numb.

I have been eating pretty good and maintaining my weight even though I haven't been working out. But I do have to say I went to CiCi's pizza on Monday and I love that place. I still have not eaten a hamburger and have been pretty much staying away from fried foods.

This week I have been eating more fruit but I need to start getting more sleep.

It is finally starting to get hot in Las Vegas. So I am going to start going for walks or bike rides in the middle of the day to sweat like a beast. Tonight I went riding after the sun went down just to see how my knee would do.

Just a couple weeks to drop a few more lbs before I see my family for a wedding.

I know it is technically Thursday already but I'll be posting again tonight.

Quizno's Subs more than $5

Today my wife was crazing a Quizno's salad so I thought I would have one of there new sandwiches that are $5. When I pulled up there is a big sign claiming $5 subs in the window. I guess I should have looked for the fine print because inside you find out that the subs are $5.99. Personally I like Quizno's better than subway but it annoys me how they can say the are $5. Plus they only had 4 or so sandwiches for $5.99. I ate the beef and cheddar sub.

My wife said the salad was good too.

Today I did the fifth workout of 20 second fitness this week. I pushed myself harder today than I have all week. I'm still not happy with how i look in the mirror. But I'll get there.

Thanks, Doug

20 Second Fitness

Another day as Mr. Mom

I took my daughters to gymnastics today. It is always funny to hear what women talk about when they are in a comfortable environment for them.

I cleaned house and did a little yard work today. Then I did the 8th workout for 20 second fitness. I still can't jump rope but I did six sets of calf raises instead. I also did a lot better with the mountain climbers. I can't do the bicycle crunches because that kills my right knee but I did regular crunches then.

If you doubt that 20 Second Fitness is a great workout click on the link here and watch the videos. http://20second.com/doubt-it/

I can't really remember everything that I ate today but I know I ate a braut with relish and it was great! Other than that I ate healthy. I need to fire up the grill again soon before it gets too hot.

Fun Weekend

This weekend was a lot of fun. My wife and I spent some time in Laughlin and took a break from the kids. I was a weakling and didn't work out Saturday night. But I did play around in the pool trying to burn calories. We danced a song in a lounge but the crowd was a little old fro us so we didn't stay long. We hung out at the pool and I was not happy with my swimming suit body. That is going to change!

I ate more that I have in a long time but I didn't gain any extra weight from last week. I actually lost weight over the week.

I weighed in this morning at 250. Yes I'm back to 250 and not happy about it. But I was at 251 last week. I have to work hard to get back under 250 and stay there. That means getting down to 240 and quick. I made it down to 250 quickly but have been stuck with in two pounds for over a month.

Today I did work out though. It was the 7th workout of 20 second fitness. I have been doing pushups using my kitchen counter as an effort to save my knee. But today I did the diamond and wide pushup girlie style.

Thanks,

Doug

First Car Wash

A month ago we traded in our two cars and purchased the GMC Terrain. We like it but Mindy wanted a black vehicle. Normally I'm not very good at washing my cars. I owned my Honda civic and only washed it five times in five years. But with the black car we will have to get it washed often.

With that said at that place I took it to get it washed my favorite taco shop shared the space. I ate a chicken taco and enchilada with a litte bit of beans and rice. for breakfast I had a egg and bagle sandwich and for dinner I had a roast beef sandwhich. two fiberone granola bars in between.

I did the day five workout of 20 second fitness. We are leaving town tomorow so the plan is to take the cd with the laptop. That will be a true test.

I messed up my wife's Mac

I thought I could follow simple instructions on how to install new RAM for my wife's iMac. But I couldn't and then when I couldn't get it to work... I tried to put the old RAM back in and couldn't get that to work. Luckily my wife still loves me. We had to take her computer to the apple store and get it fixed but the clowns wouldn't put in our new RAM or show us how to do it. So I'm back at square one but my wife still needs her computer faster.

Luckily we still were able to make it to the temple tonight a little late but we got there. Mindy worked in the kitchen and I did laundry she got the short end of the stick.

For dinner there I had a salad, green beans, a roll, a couple bites of Mindy's chicken and mashed potatoes and a fourth of her cinnamon roll. For the earlier part of the day I ate granola with half a banana, fiberone bar, I don't remember eating lunch because I was messing with the computer for so long.

I worked out when we got home and did 20 second fitness. with the main exercise being curls.

Thanks,

Doug

Back on the Wagon

Back for the second day in a row to track my workout and food I ate. I feel so much better about myself by making it back to my blog.

Today I did day 2 of 20 second fitness. It was a great workout because I pushed myself. I also went to the gym last night and did a few quick sets on the bench with dumbells. I was still able to us the 110's but need to work on building back up to the 120's and eventually higher. I tried to ride the stationary bike but my knee couldn't take it. I'm pissed that I can't even ride a bike without pain. I'm contemplating on going and getting a shot for my knee to see if that will help with the pain. I know that I don't want to inquire about another surgery.

Food: Granola Cereal, fiberone granola bar, two super large carrots (from the huge bag I bought from costco), roast beef sandwich on flat everything bagle with extra mustard (again from the huge two pack I purchased from costco), small bowl of twice baked potatoes, V-8, furit snack, two cheese, rice and bean burritos, banana

Blogging part time equals not losing weight

Since I have been lazy about blogging and not tracking my food, I haven't been losing any weight.

I haven't lost weight in almost a month. But at least I'm not gaining all the weight back.

Today I worked out today with my wife doing day one of week one for 20 second fitness. I'm starting all over again and I'm not going to miss any day's this four weeks.

I also am thinking about going to the gym and hitting the sauna. We'll see how that goes because I haven't been the the gym for months.

Food: Granola, fiberone bar, banana, snack pack, fruit snack, three baked chicken strips, mashed potatoes, small bowl of pasta, 3 chicken nuggets (I stole those from my girls plates after they were done eating. That is something that I have to stop doing again.)

On Saturday I went shopping and was banned from going to costco alone by my wife. I was caught up in the buy-in-large vibe. At least I have 18 packs of gum to help me curb snacking.

Thanks,

Doug

Avatar!

Today I did the day 4 workout of 20 second fitness. I also went to the park with my girls and hit foam golf balls for over an hour.

It's late but I'm posting

That's all for tonight. I have to help my wife.

I've been working out sort of but not blogging.

It's 1:30 am but this counts for Tuesday the 20th.

It amazes me how much I move around all day when I'm cleaning or doing yard work. It has only been a couple weeks but I have to give mad props to all the stay at home moms out there. WOW. I feel like I worked out for three hours while I was doing house work.

Today I did day two of week 4 on 20 Second fitness. The push ups are crazy but now with the star jumps I am touching my ceiling. Not saying much but at least I'm getting more than one inch off the ground.

Eating is my downfall while staying at home. I'm eating sugar, not enough fruits and veggies and I'm not drinking enough water. I have to stay strong with my eating if I want to make this work.

Tomorrow I'm back posting my food.

Thanks for bugging me and encouraging me.

Oh the Joy's of Staying Home

Today I had the privilege of taking my daughters to their gymnastics class. They have a lot of fun going there. My three year old is obsessed with Gymnastics. She has to wear her leo every single day and most nights she holds onto one while she sleeps.

I did really good with eating today & I feel like I drank enough water today. Also Worked out to 20 second fitness. I need to stop making excuses & ensure I workout on schedule again. It is crazy though because now that I'm at home cleaning and on my feet a lot more than I am used to it feels like I am working out all day long. Just as long as I still make time to workout too I should continue to see results.

I know I have lost weight but I want to lose even more. I am looking forward to the day my wife tells me I have a great body again (& actually mean it!) I am going to not be ashamed to wear a swimming suit this summer!

Thanks, Doug

I need to Blog Again

With all that has been going on in my life I haven't been making the effort to ensure I work out every single day. & You may have noticed that I haven't been blogging as I should also.

I ate more sugar and sweets in the last week than I have in a long time. But I still haven't been over eating.

I weighed in this morning and finally broke the 250 mark! I weighed in at 249 lbs!

Wow it has been since 2007 since I weighed less than 250. This motivates me to get back on the blogging wagon.

What I am proud of most is that even without blogging I was able to lose a little weight but not enough.

Thanks, Doug

It has been a while.

I stopped posting for a few days. Last week I was let go from my job and I've been a little distracted. That has also led to me eating unhealthier that I have been for a while. It is funny how hard it is to eat healthy when you are at home all day.

I vow that after today I will start writing down my food again. I need to check myself and become accountable again.

Thank you to my mother for finally calling me out about not posting.

See more tomorrow.

Day 26 I am Finally Done with My MBA!!!!

Yea I am finally done with my MBA. I finished the last three assignments tonight. I can't believe it is over. There will be a huge void in my life. I have been going to school for over six years now with very few breaks. I am looking forward to spending time with my children and wife. I know I will have to do a lot to support my wife with her photography business. She has been so patient and supportive with me through the years that it will be fun to support her and continue to watch her thrive.

Today I think I realized what I want for my graduation present to myself. I want some new golf clubs. Before I always thought I would want a video game system but since I have been working out the last thing I want to do is sit on the couch and play video games.

Exercise: Today I did some workouts with my 25 lbs. dumbbell at work again & day 5 of week 4 in my 20 second fitness. My wife said she was going to start with me when I do week one again so I think I'm going to start back up Monday. I worked out really hard today in an effort to make up for yesterday.

Food: grapenuts cereal, two fiberone granola bars, muscle milk protein bar, two bags of baby carrots, apple sauce, half of a shrimp burrito and half of a chicken chimmy. Chicken taco salad for dinner.

Drink: danactive and V-8

Thanks, Doug

Day 25 Worst Day Yet

Exercise: Arms and cardio and abs in 20 second fitness. The worst effort I have put in yet. I think I am rethinking taking that rest week next week.

Food: two bananas, two bags of baby carrots, two apples, two fiberone granola bars, two hotdogs, two quesadillas, 100 calorie special K snack.

Drink: glass of oj, danactive and V-8

The magic fat number today was 2. It is amazing how you eat junk food and it keeps going. That is what I get for eating two hotdogs for lunch. I felt sluggish when it came to working out. That's not going to happen again.

Thanks, Doug

Day 24 Happy Birthday to My Oldest Daughter

I can't believe that it is my daughters 5th birthday. I am getting old. We went to Chuckie Cheese as a family. I know I am getting skinnier because my wife, who is a great photographer, told me she didn't recognize me when she was looking at me from behind when I was standing in a crowd. She said she was looking for my normal tight fitting shirt. That makes me know there are noticeable differences already and I know there will be more to come.

Exercise. My knees are feeling it from yesterday's workout still. I think I did a little to much but I'll live. What made it worse was today was a killer leg workout. I did Day 3 of week 4.

Food: banana, grapenuts cereal, fiberone granola bar, special k strawberry crisps, muscle milk bar. A little St. Patties Day food, cabbage hold the corn beef, Shepard's pie, and carrots. I had two plates of salad at the chuckie cheese salad bar. I didn't have any pizza, cupcakes or cotton candy.

Drink: v-8, danactive & two cups of Lemonade.

I need to start working out earlier. I just finished and it is 10:20. I'm pretty tired so hopefully I will be able to get to bed sooner that usual.

Thanks for following and don't be afraid to leave comments, Doug

Day 23 Worked out pretty hard.

I worked out harder today that I have before with 20 second fitness. I did more of the high knees and trying to jump rope more. I can feel my knee getting stronger.

Exercise: Day 2 of week 4 of 20 second fitness. I also did a little bit of dumbbell work with my 25 lbs weight.

Food: banana, fiberone granola bar, muscle milk protein bar, special k crisp snack, two bags of baby carrots, two shrimp tacos from taco bell. (Over priced and not worth it.) half of a bean burrito.

Drink: danactive and V-8

Thanks, Doug

Day 22 Doug is Losing Weight thanks to 20 Second Fitness

As I posted earlier today I have lost a total of 13 lbs and counting. I can't wait to be on the success stories page of 20 second fitness. http://20second.com/success-stories/

Exercise: Today was day 1 of week 4. It started with push ups and they were killer. I had to modify them slightly in order to save my knees but I made it.

Food: banana, orange, cutie baby orange, two bags of baby carrots, two fiberone granola bars, tuna to go lunch, peach, little sample of a muscle milk protein bar, and a sample of a 100 calorie special K fruit crisp. Yes I did buy both from Costco after sampling them. Dinner was some left over noodles from my wife's dinner on Saturday but I added grilled chicken.

Drink: V-8 and danactive.

I would have never thought that I could lose weight as fast as I am. Remember you can do it too. If you have not checked out the website yet make sure you do, it is http://www.20second.com/

Thanks, Doug

Weigh in Day after 3 weeks.

Last Monday I didn't get up early enough to do an official weigh in. But I did today.

I started this change in my life 21 days ago to get healthy weighing in at 267 lbs. This morning I weighed in at 253.8 so we will round up to 254 lbs. Thirteen pounds in three weeks! I'll definitely take that. Now I need to push to get under 250 for next week.

This weekend I could have ate a lot of sweets but I resisted. I'm glad I didn't indulge. & Sorry to my daughter for not eating birthday cake with her.

Even though my wife is a busy photographer I hope she will join me in getting healthy. You can't run a marathon without taking the first step!

Thanks, Doug

Heart Broken Father over American Idle Results

Here is a picture of a heart broken father soon after he found out the fate of his supposed daughter on the popular TV show American Idle.

His supposed daughter leaves the set after she is booted off the show. Do you see the resemblance? She will be missed by at least one fan because no one else voted for her.

Day 21 Wow three weeks...

Today was a rest day from exercise and I needed it. I'm pretty sore. Stretching is a must this week. I'm pretty burnt out with school. I have 8 more days till I'm done with my MBA.

Food: One pancake, one egg, small skillet mix, salad with the skillet leftovers, salad with chicken, peach, fiberone granola bar. (I almost ate a peanut M&M but I just licked the shell of it and then didn't want to eat it. Thank you to my wife for eating it for me!)

Drink: Large glass of Orange Juice.

If I can wake up I'm going to weigh in tomorrow morning.

Thanks, Doug

Day 20 I'm beat from a day of being a tourist

I don't know how people can come to Las Vegas and walk around to the tourist spots. It is exhausting to walk around all day. I showed my sister some of the sites on the strip for a few hours with my sister and I'm spent. My wife shocks me she can walk around and take pictures all day as a photographer

Exercise: I did the sixth workout of week three. I had to modify it again but I still got a great workout.

Food: banana, watermelon, two fiberone granola bars, grilled chicken, chicken salad.

Drink: Orange Juice, V-8

Thanks, Doug

Day 19 Go Rebels

I watched a whole basketball game starting at 8:30 pm and didn't snack at all. It was fun to watch UNLV beat BYU. I'm glad my sister is in town and now I have the challenge of spending time with family and not overeating.

Exercise: Today was day 5 of week three. It was the shoulder workout It was tough but I made it through. I also did a set of 51 push ups at work. That is supposedly getting me lunch from a co-worker but we'll see.

Food: fiberone granola bar, banana, two bags of baby carrots, apple sauce, tuna lunch pack, half of a bean burrito, shrimp burrito.

Drink: Glass of Apple Juice.

Thanks, Doug

Day 18 Disappointed with tonight

Tonight was the first time I snacked more than I wanted too.

Exercise: Day four of week three of 20 second fitness. I suck at jumping rope. I have to modify it because of my knee. I did my workout between half time of the Rebels game. UNLV Go Fight Win!

Food: Banana, Peach, fiberone granola bar, two bags of baby carrots, chicken quesadilla with salsa for lunch, Chicken taco salad for dinner. Then I ate a snack pack pudding and a little bag of animal crackers. I was disappointed that I ate the animal crackers and my second fiberone granola bar of the night.

Drink: Glass of Fat Free Milk, V-8

Thanks, Doug

Day 17 Stayed Home With The Kids

It is easy for me to eat healthy when I go to work if I take my lunch. I take what I am going to eat and I don't deviate from that (Just as long as I don't get talked into going out to lunch.)

But staying at home with the girls today made it difficult. I did good though. I was supposed to go with my wife who is a photographer to the wppi photography convention, but I needed to stay home to sign for her camera she bought.

Exercise: Week three day three workout for 20 second fitness. I'm still going strong. Leg day ouch.

Food: grapenuts cereal, banana, peach, bag of baby carrots, fiberone granola bar, chips and salsa/sour cream/chicken, home made quesadilla with chicken and cheese, a couple slices of my daughters cheese quesadilla.

The workout I'm doing's website is http://www.20second.com/

Day 16 Losing Weight in 20 Second Intervals

Exercise: Week 3 day 2 workout of 20 Second Fitness. It was a killer ab workout and then cardio. I went pretty hard so it was a good workout.
Food: 2 fiberone granola bar, two packets of baby carrots, banana, peach, small cup of sunflower seeds, apple sauce, final left overs from turkey meat balls and rice. (Yes they seemed spicier the third day.) I had a chicken taco salad again. I really like this cooked and sliced chicken from Costco. They make it easy to eat chicken. There are two packages with 33 ounces each for $9.99.
Drink: danactive, V-8

My wife is talking about joining me with my quest to get healthy so if you know her please encourage her too. She is an amazing Las Vegas photographer and her life is pretty busy but I know she can live a healthier life if she wants too. I love her and want her to be healthy too.

One thing I have learned through this experience is that once your mind decides to change anything is possible. The main way I have done it is by correlating the discipline I have in my life and turned it into discipline in my eating and exercise. For example I can count on one hand the number of times I remember swearing since I was 18 years old and leaving bootcamp. If I can control what my mouth says and what my mind wants to say some times, I can control what I eat and what my mind wants to put into my mouth. I will continue to progress and become healthier. I'm pleased with my steps so far but this is only the beginning.

Thanks, Doug

Day 15 I drank my first soda in two weeks.

It's late so I'm going to make this quick.

Exercise: Day 1 of week three in my 20 second fitness workout. I also did a couple sets with my dumbbell at work.

Food: Fiberone granola bar, nectarine, apple slices, apple sauce, left overs from turkey meat balls and rice from my sister in law. I think they were spicier the second day. I'll see what day three brings when I finish them off tomorrow. For Dinner I had a salad with chicken, chips, salsa and a little ranch.

Drink: V-8, V-8 fruit juice, danactive and my first soda. I drank a can of sprite at work. I'm not sure it was worth it but since they took out the water machines at my work I'm struggling to drink enough water.

Thanks, Doug

Oh yea, I didn't weigh in today. Couldn't get out of bed this morning. I am going to wait until next Monday to weigh in. I have a goal to be at 249. That would be an average of six pounds for three weeks straight. I really want to be under 250 for the first time in a couple of years. I know I can do it but I'll have to work hard.

Day 14 Losing Weight in Las Vegas

Today was my rest day from exercise and I needed it.

Thanks, Doug

Day 13. Not my best eating day.

Today I had a fun day with the family but I felt I didn't do good eating. I played photography assistant to my wife while she was doing some child photography.

We went out to eat at Chili's.

Exercise: Today I did day six of week two and it was a pretty intense workout. I had to mortify some of the workout but I made it through it.

Food: I had grapenuts for breakfast. Then at Chili's I at two bowls of soup a salad and a few chips and salsa. Two fiberone granola bars. Bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was not a good choice.

I did resist eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream when we took the girls there.

Thanks, Doug

Day 12 What a Day

I really didn't eat that much but I feel like I haven't been eating as healthy. We haven't gone grocery shopping for a while and running short on health food. So we have been eating out more than usual.

Exercise: Day 5 of week two for my 20 second fitness workout. I feel like I'm going to throw up. It is almost midnight and I just did my workout. At least I did it.

Food: grapenuts cearl, 2 snack pack puddings, one cheese and cracker pack, on foot long sweet onion terioky chicken sub, cucumber wedges, and a shrip burrito.

I resisted eating my daughters bean burritos that they didn't finish. I was pretty proud of myself for that. When we do finally go shopping I need some gum to chew when I'm feeling on edge about food.

Drink: danactive and V-8 Fruit Juice.

Thanks, Doug

Day 11 Doug is Losing Weight in Las Vegas

I am starting to get in the habit of preplanning before I go out to eat. Now when I know I am going to go out for lunch or dinner I pull up the places menu online. This allows me to look at what the healthy options are and make a decision before I get to the restaurant. This way I am not drawn in by the tasty looking pictures. I am able to go in with a plan and stick with that plan. I highly recommend trying this.

Tonight my wife was at on a photography shoot and then took a little break from work and the girls. Normally when I am with the girls at home I would order a pizza for them and one for me and eat almost a whole large pizza in one sitting. But tonight I resisted the urge for pizza.

Exercise. I did my 20 second fitness work out. And also did some dumbbell reps at work.

Food: for breakfast I had grape nuts cereal.

I ate lunch at The Chicken Crazy and had the original pollo bowl with a side of steamed veggies. For dinner I took the girls to Chinese. I ate a healthy option of garlic scrimp and veggies with a small side of brown rice and a small salad.

Drink: danactive, V-8 Fruit Drink, Glass of OJ

Thanks, Doug

Day 10 of Doug Changing his Life

I can't believe it has already been ten days! This is starting to get easier but I'm sure there will still be major challenges for me. Tonight was one of them and I took another stride in the right direction. Usually my wife cooks dinners but lately she has been really busy with her photography business. But tonight she did make dinner. When she cooks I clean and do the dishes. Whenever I am putting away the leftovers and no one is watching I am usually shoving large portions of food in my mouth. However tonight I resisted and just put all of the leftovers in the fridge. Another big step in the right direction for me.

Exercise: Today was day three of week two of 20 second fitness. It was leg day and man am I feeling it. I made some minor adjustments to save my knee but I still had a great workout.

Food: banana, orange, and an apple for breakfast. For lunch I went to Wendy's and had a small bowl of chili, baked potato, and Cesar salad. Dinner I ate one pancake and some sausage, potato, onion, egg, and peppers combo that my lovely wife made.

Drink: I didn't drink enough water today because at my work they took out the water machines :( I did have my danactive and V-8 fruit drink though.

Thanks, Doug

Have You Lost Weight?

I must be doing something right because yesterday was the first time. I had someone asked me if I have lost weight. It had been three days since that person had seen me and he said I looked like I was slimming down. (Of course I gave him a jab about not checking out my blog.)

Then last night my wife told me my legs are starting to show some definition again. She also said my face is looking slimmer.

I'm not sure if I am noticing the physical results as much as they are but I have noticed that I am feeling better physically.

Yesterday after work I went to the park with my two daughters. We played on the swings for a few minutes then had a great game of tag on the jungle gym. That is the first time in over a year that I have actually played with them at the park instead of sitting and watching. Being able to run around with them and having fun was very special to me. They are the reason I want to be healthy.

Thanks, Doug

Day 9 Doug is Getting in Shape

I am tired! I need to go to bed early tonight and get some sleep.

Exersise: I did day 2 of week two. At the end there is a killer jumprope set. I didn't jump rope but used five pound dumbells and twisted them as if it was a jumprope. Great workout from 20 second fitness.

Food: small amount of grapenuts and milk, banana, fiberone granola bar, tuna salad lunch, chocolate pudding snack pack, two eggs with cheese, chips and salsa.

I love chips and salsa. After the small amount of salsa was gone I started eating too many chips but I was able to stop and put that last handful back in the bag.

Drink: danactive, V-8, V-8 Fruit drink

Week One Weigh In! Lose Weight in Las Vegas NV

I wasn't sure if I was going to weigh in on the first week. But this morning I felt that I needed to check my progress. I have made it over many hurdles including a little mini vacation trip where I didn't over eat.

It is amazing how much will power I have just knowing that I am going to have to post what I ate on this blog. Every time I am tempted to eat unhealthy I remind myself that I will have to tell the world what I ate.

As a reminder when I began last Monday I weighed 267 lbs. This morning I weighed in at 259.8 lbs. I think the last time I weighed less than 260 lbs was right before my knee surgery Jan 2009. Until today I wasn't sure if the scale was broken and always started with 26_. I'm happy to see that my scale doesn't have to start with 26_

Losing seven pounds makes me want to workout even harder this week.

Thank you for all of the support and love. Especially from my wonderful wife who is a las vegas wedding photographer.

Day 7 The day at Mt. Charleston

Last night was a fun night. We slept in a cabin and I had the privilege of sleeping in one of my old sleeping bags from the Marines. I sure remember the bags being a lot bigger.

For breakfast I had a flat bagel sandwich with eggs, cheese, and ham. I also had a flat bagel by itself. They are really good and a lot healthier than regular bagels. I also ate a little of more scrambled eggs.

Lunch was chili and corn bread.

Dinner was pulled pork sandwich with, corn and some macaroni salad. I again avoided eating any candy but I did have a snack pack pudding for desert.

I am proud of myself with my food. We had a great day as a family tubing and playing in the snow. It was so much fun that my wife wants to buy a cabin. We'll see how my career goes and her photography.

Thanks, Doug

Day 6 Heading to Mt. Charleston

Today I did the day 6 workout of 20 second fitness and now we are going for an over nighter at a cabin.

I at a small bowl of grapenuts and milk, a danactive and one fiberone granola bar.

Glass of orange juice.

I will update tomorrow night the rest of the food I ate for Saturday.

Thanks, Doug

Here is my continuation for Saturday's food.

I at a chicken breast sandwich from Wendy's I didn't eat the bun.
A handful of cheese nip crackers.
For dinner I had a turkey and cheese sandwich with tomato soup.

I resisted eating smores with my family.

Day 5 of Doug's effort to Lose Weight in Las Vegas

Today I had rough workout. My wife also does 20 second fitness because she is a busy las vegas wedding photographer and doesn't have a lot of time to workout. But she has to go workout once a week at the facility in Las Vegas. Today was the first time I went with her and it was pretty intense with the class. I learned I need to push myself harder at home so I can get better results. It is a lot different when the instructor can see you and calls you out on not going hard enough. I tried to keep my head down and just go hard but I still got called out.

I think I'll stick to working out at home but with more intensity.

At work I also did a few different sets with my 25 lbs dumbbell at.

Food:
I tried something different for breakfast. I had a small amount of grape nuts cereal and it kept me satisfied for a while.
I had my usual of motts apple sauce, an orange, one bag of carrots, fiber one granola bar, Tuna Salad Lunch to Go.

For dinner we went out to eat with my wife's family at ihop. On the back of the menu they have some *healthy options. I ate the spinach and mushroom omelet with a side of fruit. I resisted the urge to finish my wife's eggs and my daughters left over pancakes and eggs. Since I am changing my life I have to convince myself it is ok to waste food. Before when I would go out to eat with the family I would eat my food and then any and every leftover I could find so I didn't feel we were wasting food.

Drink: Danactive, V-8, Glass of Apple Juice

Now for another challenge, the weekend! To top it off we are going to a cabin at Mt. Charleston Saturday night to play in the snow. I am committed to making quality food choices and I will workout before I leave.

* I never knew it before but I'm pretty sure that the majority of restaurants will have a healthy option. I just have to look!

Day 4 I need to lose weight blog

Wow I made it through today. I'm shocked but happy with today. This was by far my most challenging day.
I made it over the hurdle of going out to eat the first time and making a health choice and not over eating in a restaurant.

The next challenge was when I came home my family was gone and I was in the house by myself. My wife was coming back for an engagement photo shoot. All the food in the house was calling my name... It was tough but I resisted the urge to stuff my face.

My final challenge of the day is that I didn't do my workout until after 10:30 but I did do it.

Exercise
Today was day four of 20 second fitness

Food: Fiberone Granola Bar, Motts apple sauce cup, one pack of baby carrots.

I went out to lunch but made a wise choice. I went to Rubio's and had a health mex mahi mahi burrito with rice.

Dinner: I had one stick of string cheese and a two egg burrito, with a little salsa.

Drink: V-8, Danactive, glass of orange juice

I'm really excited to see what is going to happen with my weight since I have been cutting out the extra eating!

Thanks, Doug

Day 3 Fight to Lose Weight in Las Vegas

If you are checking up on me you will come to find that at work I eat the same things almost every day. My struggle is when I come home and want to order pizza, go to in-and-out, jack in the box, taco bell and the list goes on and on. I also struggle when I walk in the house I start to eat and keep snacking for two to three hours and then have a dinner. I am trying to cut out the excess snacking and eat smaller portions at dinner.

Exercise: Today I went golfing at Bears Best. It was pretty cold but a lot of fun. I am trying to get back into golf after my two knee surgeries last year. I'm getting better and better. Unfortunately my knee was pretty sore. But I still did my day three of 20 second fitness. The first part was on lower body so I was hurting. I will be icing my knee before I go to bed.

Food: Strawberry Granola bar, banana, motts apple sauce, small apple, orange, two bags of carrots, fiber one granola bar, Tuna Salad Lunch to Go. (I didn't eat any junk food on the golf course!) Once I got home I had a salad. Then some tortia chips and salsa, with a little cottage cheese in the salsa. Very yummy.

Drink: Danactive, V-8, Glass of Apple Jucie, Glass of Orange Jucie

Thanks, Doug

Why I choose the workout 20 Second Fitness

Here is a message from the creator of the work out. Check out his before and after pictures at the end. Thanks, Doug

Last Friday I started something I am really proud of. I am sending you this email because last Friday I launched a DVD workout program that I created called 20 Second Fitness!

It has made a huge physical change in my life, Tiff’s (my wife) and many of our test subjects over the past six months. I’ve attached a photo that shows my transformation from Jan 1st 2009 to Oct 2009. Also my current profile photo is from January 1st of 2010. This is a direct result of me implementing the 20 Second Fitness program into the last six months of my life.

Given the results I have personally experienced and the results of the test subjects I have been working with over these past months, I feel strongly that I need to share what I've learned as I have developed this program.

20 Second Fitness is unique in that it addresses all of the reasons and excuses we use that prevent us from accomplishing our exercise goals and, more importantly, ensures that we will achieve the results we desire through our exercise programs. 20 Second Fitness is a fast paced, super-intense interval program that only takes an 8 to12 minute commitment each day.

I know you are probably thinking you can’t get a good workout in 8 to12 minutes. But what you will learn is that we have been able to cram an hour's worth of workout into those 8 to12 minutes. The 20 Second Fitness program is you giving it everything you’ve got for 20 seconds at a time for a few minutes every day. If you can commit to this, you will achieve your physical goals and objectives.

If you are already exercising, the 20 Second Fitness program will turbo-charge your results and if you aren't working out right now, this is a program that even the busiest of you can adopt and commit to.

Some basic elements of the program include:

1. It is a short workout. Really short! Only 8 to12 minutes a day. The workout is organized into 4 minute sets. This means you can do 4 minutes in the morning and 4 minutes at night--you can get your exercise in when it is convenient for you.

2. No more excuses! You can’t tell me you don’t have 8 to12 minutes a day to improve your physical health and the quality of your life. If you have time to brush your teeth you have time for 20 Second Fitness!

3. Intensity --- The key to the program is intensity. Muscle and strength gains come from muscle overload. For a few minutes each day we will push your muscles, lungs and heart as hard as we can.

4. Exercising in this way accomplishes two things:a. The program is going to help you increase your calorie burn, both during and after the workout, andb. Through these consistent, intense workouts you can actually increase your metabolic rate, which means your body will naturally burn MORE calories as you go throughout your day.

5. The program is adaptable to any fitness level. It doesn't matter if you are 100 pounds over weight or already quite fit. 20 Second Fitness is the program for you if you want to improve your health:a. If you want to lose some weight if will ignite your metabolism and help you get the results you want.b. If you are already working out it will help you achieve fitness goals you didn't think were possible.

6. Over the past 6 months I am running, biking and swimming less than anytime in my life, but through 20 Second Fitness I am substantially faster, stronger and healthier than I have ever been.

7. Our test subjects, of all different fitness levels, have likewise seen tremendous results in strength, weight loss and general health.I want these same results for you, if you want them.

I want to give you an introductory offer to try out 20 Second Fitness for $99. I know this program can help you achieve your goals. I'm so certain of this, that I'm also going to give you a 90 day money back guarantee. If you want to take me up on this offer, and get started now go to my website @ http://www.20second.com/

Review the two minute video about the program and then buy it and give it a try. If you try it and are consistent with it I know that 90 days from now you will be seeing huge improvements in your life. If you are not happy, send it back and I will refund your money minus your shipping.

I also need your help to get the word out to the world. Become a fan of 20 Second Fitness on Facebook and tell your friends, family, and coworkers about 20 Second Fitness. Feel free to forward this email so you friends can take advantage of this program. You can also post our 2 minute video from youtube in your status bar the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBpR58D5ILc&feature=player_embedded

Day 1 Lose Weight in Las Vegas

Exersise.

I set my alarm twenty minutes early this morning. But I was lazy and didn't get up in time to work out. I did do my knee lifts on the pull up bar I have in my closet. I did 20 to the front and five to each side.

Quick dumbell set with my 25 lbs. dumbell at work.

I have already done the warm up weeks of 20 Second Fitness so today I did the first offical day and it was pretty tough. Because of my knees I had to modify the pushups but I still felt the burn. The work out was 10 minutes long and I was pretty intense so I felt it.

Food:

Strawberry's slices
five little wrap slices left over from last night. They were a wrap with dip and pretty good but tasted heavy and fattening so I threw the rest out.

Fiber One Granola Bar
Individual cup of Motts apple sauce and a Banana
Tuna Lunch to go Pack

I struggle the most with food when I get home from work.

I ate one bag of baby carrots, a small plate of some quick and easy chicken fried rice meal and a chocolate snack pack.

I was extremely hungry but I didn't eat any more. All I have wanted to do was snack all night but I didn't want to have to write down what I did on this blog.

Drink: I always drink a lot of water but here are my other drinks for the day.

One Danactive drink 5.5 oz V8 Juice

Day one is over! Now to day two!
Thanks, Doug

Goals to get back in shape in Las Vegas

Goals are something that I have thought long and hard about. Should I set a goal for my weight? Should I set specific dates to try to reach my goals? i.e. lose 10 pounds in 60 days... I'm not interested in setting those types of goals. What I want is to change my life.

I have to change my eating habits. Food is my biggest downfall and the main issue that I struggle with. When I go out to eat I want the biggest thing on the menu that is the cheapest. I love buffets and living in Las Vegas I am surrounded by them. Some men are tempted by the dirty billboards around town of women. Me I'm tempted by seeing billboards about the Excalibur and their $29 buffet. Or getting a coupon for CiCi's buffet & I'm itching to get my food fix just like an alcoholic would need a drink. I am a religious person and consider myself disciplined and a good person. But when it comes to food I am weak and this must change. Part of changing is admitting I have a problem so here it is I have an eating problem!

Since I have had the knee surgeries I hate exercising. I am afraid that if I exercise I will end up hurting my knee again and will have to have surgery again. I used to love to work out back before it hurt. Now I am so out of shape that walking up the stairs in my house make me feel like I am going to have a heart attack.

Here are my beginning goals and they will change as I progress.

GOALS:
Write on this blog every day.
Track what food I eat / change my eating habits.
Track my workout.
Work out six days a week.
Become healthy for myself and my family.

Thanks, Doug

20 Second Fitness

The workout I'm doing / 20 second fitness

For now I feel that with this blog I will be talking to myself. But if I can't be honest with myself how am I supposed to make a change in my life.

Please comment and tell me what you think.

The workout!

I am not doing the P90X challenge because it is too intense for me with my knee problems. I can't do the jumps, push ups or any exercise that puts to much pressure on my knees.

I also looked at Insanity home workout. But again that was to much on my knees.

I found a workout that is more about changing your life over time than killing yourself for 60 to 90 days. The workout that I am doing is called 20 second fitness.
http://20second.com/

The owner and founder of 20 second fitness doesn't even know I am doing this blog yet. I'm sure he will find out but for now I am grateful that I have found a workout that I feel I can do.

The idea is to do the workout and help kick start your metabolism and keep it working throughout the day. Visit there website to learn more.

Thanks, Doug

Doug is sick of being fat in Las Vegas

Hello my name is Doug. I am 28 years old and live in Las Vegas NV. I used to be in shape and happy with my body. As the years have come and gone I have gained more and more weight. I used to be in great shape. I was in the Marine Corps and played any and every sport I could. Sports are what got me into this mess. I blew out my knee when I was 21 years old. I have now had six knee surgeries, three on each knee.

I am sick of being unhealthy. I work and go to school online so I don't get much exercise.

On February 21, 2010 I weigh 267 pounds and I'm 5'10".

When I was in high school I weighted 205 pounds when I played football. When I was in the Marine Corps I weighted 179 pounds when I met my wife at age 20. At the pace I am going I will kill myself with the weight I gained.

Today I decided to stop waiting and make a change. This was confirmed when I tried to dance with my daughter and ended up tweaking my back after about five minutes of dancing. That confirmed that is I want to be around for my two daughters and be apart of their life I need to make changes.

I am opening this blog to the public for one reason only, so I will be honest with myself. If I am not updating this blog please call me out on it. My email is beandc@gmail.com please help me stay on track for my health and for my families sake. Please!!!!! If I miss one day of updates please email me and encourage me to continue. I want to be able to dance with my daughters at their wedding day, I want to grow old with my lovely wife and be able to have the active lifestyle we want together.

I am starting a fitness program that I will explain more later but for now here is what I will be blogging about. If you can't wait check out the website 20 Second Fitness

My daily workout except Sunday.
What I eat. I'm not concerned with calories but smaller portions and eating better.
I have come to hate the scale but I will be posting my weight every week.
I will also be posting pictures of my progress. Luckily I'm married to a Las Vegas wedding photographer and she will be taking my pictures at least every 2 weeks.

Here are my before and after pictures. Unlike some before and after pictures I have a unique mark that will give me away.
